The AWS Standard System

The AWS Standard System is the vehicle through which we pursue our mission, to lead a global network that promotes responsible use of freshwater that is socially and economically beneficial and environmentally sustainable. The Standard System is centred on the AWS International Water Stewardship Standard (the AWS Standard), and aims to drive, recognize and reward good water stewardship performance.

The AWS Standard System is owned and governed by our members. The primary vehicle for member input is the multi-stakeholder Technical Committee.

To support effective and impactful implementation, and independent assessment of conformity, we operate the following programs:
Capacity development
Accreditation of specialist service providers

Our growing network of regional and local partners helps to engage local stakeholders, build local networks and data sets, and ensure learning from implementation informs international policy and standard setting processes.
