Alliance for Water Stewardship

Research Agenda

The AWS Research Agenda guides and focuses research about the AWS System. We intend to foster collaboration among AWS Members, researchers, investors, funders, industry peers and other stakeholders who are interested in understanding the impacts of the AWS System.

Our projects

River cutting across land
First impact evaluation of the AWS System

AWS is currently undertaking a long-term impact evaluation programme to investigate the effects of the AWS System. As part of this programme, AWS has commissioned its first independent impact evaluation.

Governance innovations for a transition to sustainable and equitable water use in Europe (GOVAQUA)

AWS is an associate partner in a four-year research project on water governance called GOVAQUA, that is led by the Freshwater Centre, Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE).

Boosting sustainability practice and performance at the landscape level through good water stewardship

AWS, in collaboration with a number of partners, has produced a series of reports which aim to provide practical guidance on the areas of overlap and gaps between the AWS Standard V 2.0 and other frameworks and policies. The project was supported by the ISEAL Innovations Fund and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

AWS Monitoring & Evaluation

AWS has developed a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) System to understand the AWS Standard System’s impact on our world. Through this M&E System, we gather data that tells us about the long-term direct or indirect, positive or negative, and intended or unintended impacts.
