Board Members

We are committed to a system of balanced multi-stakeholder governance. To implement multi-stakeholder governance AWS is incorporated as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organization (SCIO) (SC045894) in which members are the primary constituents. Our members are recognized as belonging to three primary categories: private sector, public sector and civil society.

We are required by law to hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) of members which is the highest level of governance for the organisation. All members are eligible to participate in the AGM. The role of the AGM is to elect members to the functional entities outlined below (Board and Technical Committee); and to receive and approve a report on progress of the organisation, its finances, implementation of the strategic plan and plans for the coming period.

Our members delegate their authority in two functional entities to manage the business of the organisation between Annual General Meetings (AGMs):

  • The Board of Directors
  • The AWS Technical Committee

Both entities are interdependent but with clear responsibilities.
