Water Stewardship Assurance Services (WSAS) is the mission-driven assurance provider for the AWS Standard System.
WSAS shares the AWS vision of a water-secure world and contributes to our mission by providing credible assurance against the International Water Stewardship Standard (AWS) Standard. WSAS provides initial certification, surveillance, and re-certification services in line with requirements set by the AWS Technical Committee.
As the custodian of the AWS Standard, AWS oversees WSAS performance to maintain the quality, integrity and credibility of the assurance scheme.
AWS is ISEAL Code Compliant. Our system has been independently evaluated against ISEAL’s Codes of Good Practice– a globally recognised framework for effective, credible sustainability systems.
WSAS is currently working towards accreditation to ISO 17065, the globally recognised standard for certification bodies.

As a mission-driven subsidiary of AWS, the scope of WSAS’s work is determined by a mandate provided by the AWS Board. This mandate includes:
WSAS is a limited liability company whose work is overseen by a majority independent Board of Directors. One AWS Trustee and the AWS Group CEO also serve on the WSAS Board of Directors.
The Certification Advisory Committee (CAC) is an independent body established to ensure the impartiality of WSAS processes and serve as an Appeals Panel in relation to certification decisions. Neither the AWS Board nor the WSAS Board are involved in certification decisions taken by WSAS.
