A high-level preparatory meeting for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference will take place in Dakar, Senegal, on 26–27 January 2026, co-organized by Senegal and the United Arab Emirates with the United Nations and partners.
The meeting will bring together governments, UN agencies, civil society, Indigenous Peoples, the private sector, and financial institutions to review progress on SDG 6, identify gaps, and shape collective action. Through roundtable discussions on six key themes – from water for people and planet to investment and cooperation – the meeting will help build political momentum and partnerships ahead of the UN Water Conference in the UAE in December 2026.
