Corporate Seminar: Water Stewardship in the Age of ‘Water Bankruptcy’ — An integrated approach to water, biodiversity, and climate change

Join the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) and WWF Japan for a hybrid (in-person and online) seminar hosted at the U Thant International Conference Hall – United Nations University, Tokyo, bringing together leading voices from academia, industry, and conservation to explore what effective corporate water stewardship looks like in practice — and how Japanese companies can lead the way.

This seminar will examine the critical intersection of water, biodiversity and business sustainability, with a focus on practical pathways forward, including:

  • Global water risk and why it matters now – a keynote from the United Nations University on Water as a Shared Issue: Insights from ‘Global Water Bankruptcy’
  • AWS Standard Version 3.0 – key updates and what they mean for companies beginning or advancing their water stewardship journey
  • Corporate water stewardship in action – examples of global leading companies across multiple sectors making credible commitments
  • Water and biodiversity in the supply chain – real experiences from the apparel and textile sector
  • Panel discussion – companies, academics and practitioners explore basin-wide collective action, stakeholder engagement strategies, and the nexus of water and biodiversity

Speakers include representatives from the United Nations University, Alliance for Water Stewardship, WWF International and WWF Japan, alongside companies sharing first-hand experiences from the field.

This event will be conducted in Japanese with English interpretation.
