Governance innovations for a transition to sustainable and equitable water use in Europe

In July 2022, AWS was announced as an Associated Partner for the four-year research project called GOVAQUA led by the Freshwater Centre, Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE). GOVAQUA is an EU-funded project that will identify, further develop and validate innovative governance approaches to accelerate the transition towards sustainable and equitable water use.

AWS is one of 11 project partners that will be involved in research on participatory and collaborative approaches to water governance. Our involvement will focus on institutional innovations that enhance the involvement of private companies in water governance, including the AWS Standard. The results of the project will grow the knowledge and evidence base for water stewardship and the AWS Standard, and support the further advancement of the AWS System.
